We are looking forward to another fun and productive year for our Tara Tarpons' swim team!  We have a great team of coaches which will help your child become a better swimmer. We encourage you to email your child's coach regarding any questions, concerns, and positive feedback you may have. The Tara Tarpons' coaches will be emailing you throughout the season with information concerning meets, practices and social events.

Come meet the coaches on Sunday  May 6th from 6- 8 pm. This is for all ages.  It's a great way to see if you are interested in joining the team.  Bring your swim suits!

After School practices are as follows for May 7th - May 23rd:

• Monday, Wednesday,   5:30 - 6:30 pm for 9 and younger

• Tuesday, Thursday       5:30 - 6:30 pm for 10 and older.

Please Note!  On Friday May 25th from 8-10 am we will have a Mock Swim Meet to get us ready for the season.

Summer Daily Practice Will Begin on Thursday May 24th
 Monday - Friday 8:30 - 9:30 AM for 10 and older

 Monday - Friday 9:30 - 10:15 AM for 9 and younger

 If your child cannot make early morning practice, there will be
 an afternoon practice for all age groups Monday - Thursday
 from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.

                                                  
 No practice on meet days!

All meets begin @ 4 pm. Swimmers are asked to be at the meet location by 3 pm.

Dates for City Meet to be held at LSU are June 28,29, 30 @ LSU Natatorium

• 6 & under and 11 & 12 year old ~~June 28th

• 7 & 8 and 13 & 14 year old ~~ June 29th

• 9 & 10 and 15-18 year old ~~ June 30th

Tara's pool will close @ 2:00 pm. on days when we host the meets.  This will be June 9th & June 16th.

Tara will provide fried chicken and drinks.

Swim Suits for 2012

Tara swim team will be using the same team swim suit style that we used last year, (the blue suit with the embroidered silver Tara Tarpon on the front).  If you need to order a new swim suit for this year, please go to Natal Swim and Tri Zone located at 5733 Essen Lane no later than Tuesday, May 8th to be fitted for a suit.  Natal's phone # 765-7380, Hours: T- F 10:30-6:00 pm; Saturday 10-3 pm.  Closed Mon. & Sun.

Volunteers Needed ~~ be sure to lend a hand and volunteer your resources and / or time so that together we can make summer 2012 THE BEST !!!!

We need volunteers for the following: (1) chaperones; (2) baked goods for home meets; (3) drinks for home meets; (4) Friday treats; (5) meets: timers, organize

Some Important Policies

1. Children who cannot meet the minimum swimming requirements for safety, will NOT be allowed on the Swim Team until they can.  The coaching staff will evaluate all swimmers abilities.

2. It is very important that you provide us with at least one email address that is viewed at least once a week.  We will be using email as our primary method of communication.

3. Each swimmer is expected to attend practices regularly and participate in meets.  It is the responsibility of the swimmer and his/her parents to notify the coaching team when a swimmer cannot attend practice and especially a meet.

4. In order to have meets parents' help is needed.  One parent must attend a mandatory meeting before the swim league begins. The meeting date is Sunday April 15th 2 pm. in the club house. Sign up sheets will be available during registration and at the parents meeting.

5. Because there are no lifeguards on duty during swim team practice, the siblings of swimmers are not allowed in the main pool!  Pool is Closed

6. The baby pool may be used for very young children with parental supervision.
